There is a simple yet powerful technique that has been shown to gradually increase your intelligence quotient (IQ). For most people, the improvement in IQ happens slowly, while for a select few, the results are more radical. Regardless of all, one thing is for certain: with consistent practice, this technique brings a guaranteed change in how your brain processes information it already has and how it creates new ideas.

So, what exactly is image streaming and how does it work?

The exercise is simple: Sit down, take a moment to relax your body and mind, and then just make up a story and tell it out loud. But here’s the catch, the story has to be about a place that no one has ever seen before. It shouldn’t resemble any landscape, object, or setting that you’ve already encountered in your life. You’re creating something completely new, purely from your imagination.

This activates what can be called your creative muscles. By making your brain invent something not seen before, you stimulate cortex areas responsible for imagination, language processing, and thinking in abstract ways. The most important part of the exercise is to speak out loud and to speak faster than you think.

“Describe everything that comes to mind as quickly as possible, using as many words as you can for each mental image.”

Why is this exercise so effective?

Because when you speak faster than your conscious mind can plan, you bypass your usual mental filters and can let your creativity flow freely. This change in pacing encourages your brain to form new neural connections, thus improving both your verbal fluency and your ability to think outside of the box. Over time, as these new pathways become stronger, your overall intelligence and cognitive flexibility will increase, as a result of this practice.

The world you imagined doesn’t need to make sense, and it doesn’t need to follow logic or rules too. It simply needs to be something new and undiscovered, something that only your mind could create in that moment. The weirder it sounds, the better results you will get.

A great way to get even more benefit from this technique is to record yourself while speaking. After you finish speaking for 1-10 minutes, listen to your recording and analyze the way in which you expressed your imaginary world. Notice if you made any long pauses, repetitions, or stumbles, and use that information to plan on what to focus on improving when you do the exercise next time.

As you practice for a few weeks or more, you’ll notice how your speech becomes faster, clearer, and more eloquent.

Each image streaming practice session should last from one to ten minutes. Start with a shorter time, e.g. one or two minutes, and gradually increase the duration of the exercise, as you get more comfortable with the exercise itself. The main key to success is consistency, not duration, so make sure to do the technique at least once every day.

While recording yourself, don’t forget to speak as fast as possible. Don’t stop, even if you stutter or lose track of what you were saying. Just allow yourself to relax and try to reach the flow state while talking. This exercise is not about perfection, it’s about freeing your thoughts and strengthening the communication between your imagination and your spoken words.

Daily practice of this technique will bring multiple benefits like clearer thinking, faster speech, and stronger problem-solving skills. You might even find that your overall creativity in daily life improves, whether you’re writing, designing, brainstorming, or simply communicating with others.

“The best way to see the results of this is to try the exercise yourself.”

Practice for a few days and pay attention to how your mind feels after each session. You’ll most likely feel like you have more clarity, mental agility, and better focus.

Be curious, try this technique, experiment with worlds unseen, and enjoy the process of awakening your creativity. This will definitely be a fun and powerful way to keep your mind active, flexible, and ready for whatever challenge comes into your daily life.
